On Monday, the Taiwanese manufacturer introduced the HTC One Max, which is part of its new series and is basically a larger than life version of its flagship HTC One smartphone. HTC’s range of small, medium and large Android smartphones is completed with the HTC One Max phablet. In more than one respect, the HTC One Max is very similar to the HTC One and the HTC Mini, but it has one feature that helps it stand out amongst the others. The screen has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and diagonally the screen measures about 5.9 inches.
As compared to Galaxy Mega, the 6.3 inch device launched by Samsung Electronics, the One Max is a hair smaller, but offers a much better resolution to the users. The device boasts about 2 GB of RAM and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor. One downside of the phone is that the company did not use the Snapdragon 800 processor in it instead. There are four cores in the 600 processor with each being 1.7 GHz. The phone will have support for microSD cards and will also offer internal storage of about 16GB and 32 GB as well.
The second major phone that has a fingerprint scanner and announced this very year is the HTC One Max, the first one being the iPhone 5S of Apple Inc. However, the fingerprint scanner is built into the home button of the iPhone 5S, but the fingerprint scanner is on the back of the HTC One Max. The scanner requires users to swipe their fingers downwards for reading their print. It can come in handy when people have to launch certain applications or as a security measure for keeping the phone locked. The design language on the Max is very similar to that found in the One Mini and One.
A polycarbonate frame has been used for holding the aluminum body that makes up the Max. Just like the One and the One Mini, HTC Max also has the same BoomSound Stereo speakers. The One Max is being regarded as a formidable piece of hardware because of the large screen and its speakers. Nonetheless, in comparison to the Galaxy Note 3 launched by Samsung, the HTC One Max is much heavier and weighs about 7.65 ounces while the former only weighs 5.93 ounces. Apart from that, the device has Sense 5.5 and runs of Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. HTC’s BlinkFeed Software is part of the latest version of Sense and also the company’s own user interface.
Similar to the One and the One Mini, HTC Max One has the UltraPixel camera with ImageChip. The pixels are much larger and allow more light and provide optimal performance with backside illumination. The front and back camera can both capture HD video and the front camera can take pictures to about 2.1 megapixels. The One Max also offers a horde of connectivity options. The battery cannot be removed, but the back cover can. It will reach the overseas market later this month.
